LEARNING GERMAN IN SWITZERLAND

"German is so difficult!"

This is what many beginners think and have been told. But "difficult things" can become much easyer, when you find the right approach for you!

As a linguist and author, especially as a teacher for various institutions over the past 16 years, I have had plenty of opportunity to become familiar with the specific obstacles for students with English, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese roots.

I had long been thinking up and finding more efficient and time-saving methods to enable a faster approach to learning German - a rather complex and grammar-based language - that is less intimidating for the students, and I have found plenty of possibilities

Since then, I have developed my method and have created my own learning material during  the last 12 years.

This is an ever- growing "file" -  I often create personalized  exercises for single students, knowing that no one has exactly the same way to understand and to learn.

On the other hand,  I can comunicate with my students in their mother tongue, if necessary, and so we save a lot of time as we work together!

Certaily, one of the most exciting ways to learn new details about human existence, thinking and culture - and to learn about yourself - is the study of a foreign language!

In addition, German is phonetically easy to understand and a lot more "straight forward" in pronounciation than English.
Finding key links and focusing on the similarities between the two languages , our approach can be much smoother for you than you might think!
Italian
The Italian language has the wonderful advantage that you can speak entire sentences already after the first lesson! Phonetically easy and regular, it doesn't present any difficulties  (perhaps apart from the "rrrr" : ))
Cooking in Italian is one of my favorites - learn more as you study!
French
French has influenced the English language greatly throughout history, and therefore (as in German) there is plenty of opportunity to find a smooth and direct approach despite the phonetic differences which do require some basic training to learn.
Listening to French "chançons" and discussing poetry can give you the opportunity to get in touch with the fascinating French culture and "esprit".
